Workforce Development Boards are responsible for establishing a comprehensive one-stop center, called NCWorks Career Centers in North Carolina, that provide access to physical services of the core programs and other required partners.
At the heart of the NCWorks Career Centers is the ability to provide services to businesses seeking skilled workers, employment assistance to individuals, and workforce and economic information services to all customers. These centers serve the community by providing a broad array of services, job information, and job referrals in one place in order to help job seekers increase their skillset and obtain meaningful employment, and to provide opportunities for businesses to connect with skilled individuals. Career Centers are accountable for establishing links to all segments of the local community in order to develop innovative employment and training partnerships.
Please visit the Cumberland County NCWorks Career Center (located at 414 Ray Ave in Fayetteville) to observe workforce service delivery in action.
The Cumberland County NCWorks Career Center is part of the workforce development system that includes representatives from various local workforce development partner agencies to provide the best services and resources possible to the County’s citizens. Our shared goal is to increase employment and training opportunities for individuals, as well as enhance productivity and competitiveness in the workplace.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) emphasizes increased partnerships and collaboration among workforce system programs, but the Cumberland County Workforce Development Board has worked with key partners for many years who have contributed to the Center’s vision and mission for the community.
