FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Cooperative Extension announces the October Better Living Series “The Great Pumpkin” focusing on pumpkins. The three workshops will be held at the Cooperative Extension office located at 301 E. Mountain Dr., Fayetteville.

Growing the Great Pumpkin
Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 12 noon – 2 p.m.
Learn how to grow large, prize-winning pumpkins. The workshop includes information such as proper pumpkin variety selection, fertilizer requirements and pest management. Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 12 noon – 2 p.m.
Big orange pumpkins and grinning Jack-O-lanterns have graced front porches for years, heralding in Autumn and Halloween. Learn how to put a new twist on pumpkin fun by learning how to etch your pumpkin. Each participant will leave the workshop with their own unique pumpkin. Cooking with Pumpkins
Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 12 noon – 2 p.m.
It’s the season for pumpkins! Join the Cooperative Extension staff and learn how to use fall pumpkins for cooking. Participants will learn how to make puree, bread and a tasty snack.
