Interested In Becoming A Poll Worker
Are interested in becoming a Poll Worker? If so, fill out the Poll Worker Interest Form and mail it to the Cumberland County Board of Elections.
Interested In Becoming A Student Election Assistant
You must be 17 years of age at the time of the primary or election you are applying for. You must also be a United States Citizen, a resident of Cumberland County and enrolled in a secondary education institution (including home school) with an exemplary academic record. If interested, fill out the Student Election Assistant Application and mail it to the Cumberland County Board of Elections at least 30 days before the election you wish to work.
Regular Board Meeting
The Cumberland County Board of Elections holds their regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 301 E. Russell Street at 9:00 a.m.
HAVA Update
Beginning January 1, 2004 all voters will be required to sign the precinct list printout before voting.
The state HAVA compliance act amends G.S. 163-166.7 to require, beginning January 1, 2004, that before voting, a voter must sign the poll book (or other voting record or voter authorization document being used at that polling place).
All individuals who regestered by mail on or after January 1, 2003 that did not provide a verifiable form of identification will be required to show identification before voting.
The state HAVA compliance act adds new G.S. 163-166-12, aplicable only to individuals who have registered to vote by mail on or after January 1, 2003, and who have not previously voted in North Carolina in an election that includes a race for federal office.
