Certification Program
About the Program ...
The Precinct Official Certification program is designed to provide useful information to current precinct workers as well as the general public. The goals of the program are to train and motivate precinct officials so that they will be better prepared for election day and to give the public a better understanding of the election process.
The Precinct Official Certification Program, the first of its kind in North Carolina, was developed by the Cumberland County Board of Elections in conjunction with Fayetteville Technical Community College. This is an eighteen hour course and carries 1.8 Continuing Education Credits.

Precinct Worker Sign-up
Precinct workers are appointed by the Democrat and Republican parties but occasionally, the parties cannot find a worker for a particular precinct or a current worker resigns or cannot work due to an emergency. If you are interested in being added to our prospective precinct worker list, please fill out the Poll Worker Interest Form and mail it to the Cumberland County Board of Elections. Note: Certification is not mandatory to become a precinct worker.

We have brochures with attached registration forms available at our office. We are located at 301 E. Russell Street in Downtown, Fayetteville.
