The permits and associated fees set forth in this section are adopted by local ordinance
pursuant to the requirements of the NC Fire Prevention Code. Renewal of permits
shall be subject to the fees in effect for the period of renewal. These are normally
issued after an inspection and correction of any violations.

A hazard or violation may be reported at any time. The Fire Marshal's Office will
respond to any complaint regarding a life safety hazard, illegal burning or other
fire code violation in Cumberland County. These may be reported directly to the
Fire Marshal's Office during normal business hours.
The Cumberland County Emergency Communications Center provides an emergency phone
number for the reporting of immediate life safety problems in Cumberland County,
i.e., locked exits, overcrowding, etc., which occur or are reported after normal
business hours, on holidays or on weekends.
All complaints will require the following information to be recorded in order to
be processed:
A written record of all complaints is maintained in the Fire Marshal's Office, however,
all names are kept strictly confidential and are not released to the general public.
