FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Emergency Services will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. for the new 9-1-1 Emergency Services Center located at 500 Executive Place in Fayetteville.

Members of the public and media are invited to attend the ceremony and see the new center and the expanded workspace to maximize communication efforts as well as technological improvements which are integrated into the new building to improve customer service and efficiency.

The improvements are all rooted in lessons learned from Hurricanes Matthew and Florence as well as tornado events similar to what took place in and around Cumberland County in 2011.

“No words can express how excited we are at Emergency Services to move into our new home,” said Emergency Director Gene Booth.  “The improvements in space and technology will make a huge difference to the services we provide the citizens of Cumberland County.”

The facility will have next generation 9-1-1 equipment, including a phone system with text-to-911 capability. It will also allow for rapid call routing to other 9-1-1 centers in the event we had to evacuate the facility.

Additionally, the audio-visual system has been designed to allow for maximum communication and flexibility, which is integral to Emergency Management and Response.

It has eight separate meeting spaces and more than 25 monitors, including a 2x8 video wall in the Emergency Operation Center, which is capable of more than 48 different video configurations. Each meeting space will allow users the capability of “casting” their screen or display to nearly any other monitor in the facility.

Members of the media are asked to R.S.V.P. to Assistant County Manager Brian Haney or Deputy Public Information Director Loren Bymer if planning on attending the event.
