Envirothon
The Envirothon program is a natural resources knowledge and ecology field day/competition event for five-member high school and middle school teams. Resource subject areas are: Wildlife, Soils, Forestry, Current Environmental Issues and Aquatics. Contact the District for information on the local Envirothon. Congratulations!
Lake Waccamaw State Park in Columbus County was the setting of the Area VII Envirothon on March 31, 2011. Thirty teams from Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Robeson and Sampson Counties competed for the opportunity to go to the State competition.
Three Cumberland County teams qualified for the state competition: Area VII Middle School First Place Winners were Cumberland's H.O.M.E. School Team, "The Octopi" , who placed fourth at the State Middle School Envirothon.
Grays Creek High School's team, The Bears, and Cape Fear High School's team, FFA Black Bears competed in the NC Envirothon high school competition.
