Two Scholarships Available (Deadline: February 15, 2012):
Cumberland County Veteran Services has applications for two Scholarships. The North Carolina Division of Veteran Affairs offers competitive scholarships for children of veterans. The child must have been born in North Carolina and resided here all his or her life and the veteran (parent) must have wartime service. There are several categories of eligibility.

The NC Association of County Veteran Service Officers has a $500 Scholarship for Seniors whose parent is a veteran. The deadline for both scholarships is Feb. 15th. Please call our office for more details.

About Us

The Cumberland County Veterans Service Office assists veterans and their dependents obtain benefits to which they are entitled by: submitting claims for benefits to the Department of Veterans Affairs; reviewing and following up on decisions of the Department of Veterans Affairs for fairness and accuracy; and writing and submitting appeals to the Board of Veterans Appeals for disputed decisions.

These services are always "Free" to the veterans and their dependents.

The Cumberland County Veterans Service Office operating hours are Monday thru Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (Closed for lunch from 12 noon to 1 p.m. daily and all day Fridays). Mailing address is PO Box 1829, Fayetteville, NC 28302-1829.
