The Cumberland County Department of Public Health has selected an executive search firm to help recruit, assess and select the next Health Director. Developmental Associates was chosen by the Health Director Search Committee in August. The firm was one of three that responded to a request for proposals.
The contract was awarded to Developmental Associates based on its experience working with local governments and Public Health Departments in North Carolina, and its familiarity with conducting department head searches in the Fayetteville and Cumberland County area.
“We are excited to initiate our search for a permanent health director,” said Interim Health Director Duane Holder. “Ensuring the right person for our community is selected for this position is of upmost importance to the Health Department, County Management, the Board of Health and Board of Commissioners.”
The search committee met with Developmental Associates on Oct. 17 to begin the formal process of recruitment. Initial work for the development of a position posting, which is expected to be advertised by the end of October, was completed. Committee members expressed the need for the process to be very transparent and to include stakeholder involvement at all levels within the community.
Staff and community listening sessions are being planned and will be advertised as specific details are completed. Public input will be sought via a variety of sources and the Board of Health welcomes all feedback.
