Cumberland Deaths Rise to 256; Critical Spread Remains

The Cumberland County Department of Public Health reports 49 Cumberland County residents died from the coronavirus since the beginning of February, bringing the total to 256 deaths. There have been 23,151 cases reported since the onset of the pandemic.

Cumberland County remains in the Red Tier of the NC County Alert System with critical community spread. The county’s case positivity rate is at 10.5%. The target rate recommended by the World Health Organization is 5%.

Vaccine Clinic Information
The County has drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinics for those in Groups 1, 2 and a portion of Group 3 (beginning no earlier than Feb. 24) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Crown Expo Center (1960 Coliseum Drive, Fayetteville NC). on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All previously confirmed appointments will be honored and should arrive as prescribed originally.

  • Tuesdays: 2nd dose appointment only. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No standby lane
  • Wednesdays: 1st and 2nd doses appointment only. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No standby lane
  • Fridays: 1st dose only. Appointments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Standby lane from 3 to 5 p.m. for individuals eligible in Groups 1, 2, and 3 (child care/Pre-K-12) only.

Individuals from Group 3 who are eligible on Feb. 24 include workers in PreK-12 schools (public, charter, private/non-public schools) and childcare settings only. 

Anyone who has received their first dose at the Crown Expo Center on or before Jan. 26 should request an appointment for their second dose or use the standby lane. Appointment confirmations will be sent via email or phone. Depending on dose allocation, this could take several days.

Individuals who received their first dose at the Crown Expo Center on or after Jan. 27 are automatically scheduled for their second dose and do not need to request an appointment.
