Board of Equalization and Review Meetings 2021

The Cumberland County Board of Equalization and Review will convene on April 26, 2021. On this date, the board will begin accepting tax year 2021 real property appeal requests from taxpayers who own or control taxable real property in Cumberland County. The tax appeals must be received no later than May 20, 2021, the final adjournment date for the 2021 Board of Equalization and Review.

The Board of Equalization and Review will convene April 26 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in room 564 on the fifth floor of the courthouse. For additional details, call customer service at 910-678-7507.

Requests for hearings before the Board of Equalization and Review must be made in writing and received on or before the board’s adjournment date on May 20. Send requests by mail to Tax Administration, P.O. Box 449, Fayetteville, NC 28302 or by email to email_envelope.

Appeals forms can be downloaded from the Tax Administration website at co.cumberland.nc.us/tax.aspx by clicking on the “Forms and Publications” tab on the left side of the webpage. Appeal forms may also be requested by mail or at the email address listed above.

Completed appeal forms may be received by personal appearance, by mail to Tax Administration, P.O. Box 449, Fayetteville, NC 28302 or emailed to email_envelope on or before the date of adjournment of the board. Appeals mailed to Tax Administration for the Board of Equalization and Review, must be postmarked no later than the date of adjournment, May 20 to be considered timely.  Signed appeals forms may also be faxed to 910-223-3343 or 910-678-7582. All taxpayers who appeal their values will be contacted by an appraiser. If their appeal goes to a hearing before the board, the taxpayer will be contacted by the appraiser and notified by letter, stating the date the appeal will be heard.

Property owners are encouraged to provide supporting evidence for consideration. Examples of evidence include recent appraisals, sales of similar properties in the neighborhood, cost estimates of structural repairs or pictures of the property showing other than typical conditions.
