The Cumberland County Department of Public Health distributed approximately 800 dental kits to daycares and to families through the Delta Dental Foundation’s Smiles for Kids grant program. The dental kits included a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, educational flyers and a coloring book.
Public Health Educators delivered the kits to Action Pathways, the Sunshine House Daycare and clinics in the Health Department that serve women and children. The kits will be distributed to women and children with the goal of increasing oral health awareness in Cumberland County.
The Cumberland County Health Department is a second-year recipient of a Smiles for Kids grant to support the dental kit program and is one of 22 grant recipients from across North Carolina. The Delta Dental Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of North Carolina, partners with nonprofit organizations across the state to advance oral health education and oral health services.
