Hurricane Florence Damage Information

Cumberland County was declared a disaster area due to the effects of Hurricane Florence that devastated many areas in September 2018. The Tax Administration office was part of the damage assessment team that documented much of the damage to properties; however, if your taxable property, such as a commercial structure, your residential home, mobile home, farm equipment, boat, etc., suffered damages or loss, please call 910-678-7507 and ask the agent that answers your call about how to report your loss to our appraisal departments.

Because the damages from the hurricane occurred after Jan. 1, 2018, no adjustment can be made to your 2018 real property tax bill per NC General Statute. For our citizens that are experiencing difficulties paying their taxes, please ask for assistance in setting up extended payment arrangements for your tax bill.

Our appraisal staff will be out in the field in January to review hurricane damaged properties. If your property was damaged and not fully repaired by Jan. 1, 2019, please be sure to report this damage by calling 910-678-7507 as it may affect your 2019 property tax bill.
