Barricaded Subject Innisbrook Court
Cumberland County - Around 7 p.m. last night, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office received a phone call from a Regina Morrison at 8233 Innisbrook Court in eastern Fayetteville that her ex-boyfriend, Bobby Gene Porter, Jr. was outside the residence threatening to shoot her. Apparently Porter was upset that his live-in girlfriend (Morrison) had vacated their residence and removed both property from the home and money from their joint bank account.
Deputies arrived at the address to find the subject, Porter at the scene armed with 3 weapons. Porter had shot into a vehicle with a shotgun and into the mobile home, which had 3 adults and 5 children within it, with 2 rifles. Porter held law enforcement at bay for approximately 50 minutes. Members of the Sheriff's Office Crisis Negotiation and Special Response Teams were en route to the home, however, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit were able to persuade Porter to surrender around 9:30 p.m. without further incident.
A female occupant in the mobile home, Kathy Scoggins, received a superficial wound from the shots fired into the home, above the knee in her left leg. She was transported to Womack Army Medical Center for treatment.
As a result of the incident, Porter was charged by the Sheriff's Office with 8 counts of attempted first degree murder and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling. Porter was jailed in the Cumberland County Jail under a $225,000 secure bond.
