--Press Release from Sheriff Butler--

Shopping Alert!

Cumberland County, NC; It's that time of year again when Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office will be Christmas shopping with approximately 68 children on Saturday, December 9th, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Ramsey Street Wal-Mart. The event should run to approximately 11 a.m. Approximately 23 families will be outside of Wal-Mart beginning at 8:30 to register their children for the shopping spree. Deputies plan to spend approximately $200 per child this year.

The Community Policing (CP) Unit of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, BB&T, the Knights of Pythians and Wal-Mart organized this annual event for needy children. Two fundraisers, a car wash and spaghetti lunch, were conducted by the CP Unit in November to help raise money for the event.
