Student Lighthouses to be Featured in
Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center's
Local & State History Room

Fayetteville, NC - Throughout the month of January, the Local & State History Room at the Headquarters Library will feature replicas of North Carolina's coastal lighthouses. These tall, circular, graceful structures tower above the low-lying sand banks at scattered intervals along our Atlantic shoreline. Replicas of the lighthouses were constructed by eighth graders from R. Max Abbott Middle School as part of their social studies curriculum.

Each month the Local & State History Room features a different display, which provides county residents access to materials that support and enrich their leisure, developmental, and recreational interests.
