Library Board Votes to
Reduce CCPL&IC Service Hours

Fayetteville, NC - At the recommendation of Library Director Jerry Thrasher, the CCPL&IC Board of Trustees voted to reduce service hours for all library locations. This recommendation came after two options were presented. They included either reducing service hours or closing two community branches.

The vote was taken in an emergency board meeting held at the Headquarters Library on June 22. The need to adjust service hours was brought about by the reduction of library funding by $500,000 in the county budget for Fiscal Year 2000-2001. No currently filled positions will be effected, however 17 vacant positions will be eliminated.

As a result of the reduction in library service hours, approximately one-third of programming planned for the month of July will be canceled.

The following service hours will go into effect July 1, 2000:

Headquarters Library

Monday 12:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Tuesday-Wednesday 9:00 am - 9:00 pm
Thursday-Saturday 11:00 am - 6:00 pm
Sunday 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Regional Branches-Cliffdale, East and North

Monday 12:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Tuesday-Wednesday 9:00 am - 9:00 pm
Thursday-Saturday 11:00 am - 6:00 pm
Sunday:   June-Aug.
Sept.-May
Closed
2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
