Cumberland County Prepares for
Lake Rim Park Dedication

A Dedication Ceremony for Lake Rim Park is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, 2000 at 10 AM. Cumberland County officials will officially kick off the opening of the 30 acre park at that time.

The public is invited to join Cumberland County Commissioners, Cumberland County Parks and Recreation, as well as representatives of the NC Wildlife Commission and NC Division of Parks and Recreation for the ceremony.

In lieu of cutting ribbon, there will be a grand slam finale on the new tennis courts at the end of the ceremony.

Lake Rim Park has actually been open to the public since the first Saturday in April. “I sincerely hope the park offers something of interest for every resident of Cumberland County,” states Parks and Recreation Director Larry Philpott.

Some of the park amenities include youth baseball and softball fields, multipurpose football and soccer fields, lighted tennis courts, lighted volleyball courts, walking trails, playground and picnic pavilion. A historical pin tar kilns restoration project and a board walk through wetlands are also slated.
