Welcomes Author John Berendt

Fayetteville,NC - John Berendt, author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil: A Savannah Story, will appear at the CCPL&IC Headquarters Library Pate Room on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00 pm.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, published in 1994, is an account of life in Savannah, Georgia, as observed by Berendt over a five-year period in the 80s, and provides portraits of Savannah's more colorful citizens.

The book remained on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list for more than three years, has been issued in 24 foreign editions, and sold more than 2.5 million copies in hardcover in the US alone. It has also been adapted for the silver screen. The 1997 film release was directed by Clint Eastwood and stars Kevin Spacey.

Berendt is also a journalist who has served as an editor with both Esquire and New York magazines.

Because seating is limited, tickets will be required for admittance to the program. Tickets will be available free of charge at the Headquarters Library beginning Wednesday, November 1 at 9:00 am and continuing during regular library service hours until they are depleted.

Books will be available for purchase and autographing immediately following the presentation. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and Library Endowment Trust.
