 Media Advisory October 2000 Weekenders

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office would like to invite the media and make the public aware of the following events next month. For more information on any of the events, contact the public information office.
- Friday, October 13th at 7:30 p.m. - Southern Gospel Music Benefit Concert at Northwood Temple on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. Sheriff Earl R. "Moose" Butler invites all to the free concert featuring The Watchmen, John Abrams, The Glorymen and the Jay Stone Singers. A love offering will be taken to benefit little Wyatt Wood, the son of Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Homicide Detective Sgt. Ray Wood. Wyatt is 3 months old and will have to have a liver transplant. Please join in for an evening worship in music and help Baby Wyatt. WAZZ's Curt Nunnery will serve as the evening's Master of Ceremonies.
- Saturday, October 14th from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m. is the VFW Post 9925's Veteran's Appreciation Day. Located at 2105 Wade-Stedman Road (across from the Bethany Fire Department), all veterans and active duty military and their families are invited to come out for this patriotic event. Officers from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office K9, and Community Policing Units will be present to offer demonstrations and fingerprint cards and child id kits. Food will be provided by the post and a sky-diver demonstration is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
- Saturday, October 28th from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. is the 3rd Annual Safety Day, sponsored by the Lake Rim Fire Department. Officers from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Division and K9 Unit will be on hand to provide demonstrations. In addition, the Sheriff's Office Community Policing Unit will run a Bike Rodeo, offer free fingerprinting and child ID kits and demonstrate the Sheriff's Office Mobile Command Post. The Sheriff's Office DARE/SRO show car "Meritorious" will also be making an appearance.
