Cumberland County Solid Waste
Expands White Goods Disposal Sites

Local citizens will soon have a few more options for the disposal of white goods. While the Ann Street Landfill will still accept white goods and will remain the central processing center for such solid waste materials in Cumberland County, four additional convenience centers will begin accepting white goods as of June 1, 2001.

White goods (large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, air conditioning units and hot water heaters) will be accepted at the McCauley site on Research Drive off Tom Starling Road; the Jernigan site on McBryde and Giles Roads in the Linden area; the Cliffdale site on Lowell Harris Road off Cliffdale Road; and the Hubbard site on Wade-Stedman Road in the eastern portion of the county.

Due to limited space at the convenience centers, only one of each appliance will be accepted from a homeowner. The only stipulations are that the doors be removed from refrigerators and freezers and units must be free of any waste products.

If you have any further questions, please contact Cumberland County Solid Waste Management Director John Bittle at 321-6830, ext.23 or Public Information Director Tonya Harris-Council at 437-1921.
