Library Card Sign–Up Month

September is Library Card Sign–Up Month—a time when the American Library Association and libraries across the country remind parents that the most important school supply of all is @ your library™--it’s your library card.

To celebrate this special observance, the Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center (CCPL&IC), Inc. are sponsoring a library card sign–up drawing. Each individual (regardless of age) who signs up for a new library card during September 2001 will be entered into a drawing to win one of three gift certificates to a local bookstore valued at $10, $15, and $25. Each location, except the Law Library, will draw the winning names the first week of October.

Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center cards are free to Cumberland County residents. While borrowing privileges are granted on the spot, some form of identification with proof of residency and/or the signature of a guardian are required.

CCPL&IC offers books, magazines, audio– and videotapes, computers, and other multimedia materials which can be borrowed simply by showing a library card. Librarians are on hand to help locate recommended materials suitable for various ages and interests.

Visit your local library, sign–up for a library card, and you’ll see the limitless opportunities that await you.
