For Immediate Release September 4, 2001
The Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center (CCPL&IC) was recently awarded its second Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant to improve services to the growing Hispanic community. The grant, valued at $36,840, will be used to purchase both print and non–print materials for adults and children in the top five interest areas identified on the Hispanic Needs Assessment Survey conducted by CCPL&IC early this year using funds from the first LSTA grant. The materials will be placed in the Spring Lake, North Regional and Headquarters library locations as well as on the Bookmobile. Special programs will be presented at these locations utilizing the materials, the Internet and other services. The Bookmobile will add stops in predominately Hispanic communities to their Friday schedule. Funding will also be used for a public information campaign aimed at reaching this population. CCPL&IC is committing $3,700.00 in matching funds to the grant. Staff members Rhonda Williams, Carl Keiper, Jane Casto and Gail Terwilliger worked to prepare the grant application. |
