Contractor Abandons Jail Job
Project To Still Move Forward

In a letter sent to the Cumberland County Engineering Office Monday, March 4, 2002, Miller Building Corporation stated that it is unable and unwilling to complete construction of the county's new detention center, due to financial difficulties.

Cumberland County officials are working with the bonding company, American Home Assurance Company, to complete construction of the facility.

The project is still expected to be completed by June 30, 2002. No additional costs are expected to be incurred by the County.
