Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Cumberland County Emergency Services is honoring telecommunicators this week as part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week from April 11-17.

The event is recognized the second full week of every April to thank telecommunications personnel in the public safety community. Cumberland County Emergency Services is only the 19th Tri Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) agency in the world. The 911 center is accredited by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch in the areas of Fire, Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical care. In 2020, the 911 center processed a combined total of 320,154 inbound and outbound calls and dispatched 231,705 events.

“I’m very proud of my team who work closely with law enforcement and first responders to help residents in Cumberland County,” said Director of Emergency Services Gene Booth. “It’s a great feeling to know I have a strong team who have dedicated their lives to serving the public.”

The Cumberland County Emergency Communications Center provides 24/7 assistance and support to the public for the safety and protection of their lives and property through 911 and radio communications. The Communications Center dispatches for Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Hope Mills Police Department, Spring Lake Police Department, Cape Fear Valley EMS (county wide) and all County Fire Departments.
