Due to an increase in respiratory illness, including influenza, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), higher than in previous years, the Cumberland County Department of Public Health is implementing Mask Requirements for sick visits. These levels are expected to increase through the early part of 2026, and we want to provide the best care possible for our patients and keep our staff and visitors safe.
Required Masking Guidance
Due to an increase in flu cases and other respiratory illnesses in our community, Cumberland County Public Health is updating its masking guidance.
- What’s Changing?
We recommend wearing a well-fitting mask in crowded indoor spaces, healthcare settings, and when visiting vulnerable individuals during respiratory virus season.- When attending appointments the health department for a sick visit, a mask is required.
- Why Now?
Respiratory virus activity has risen significantly, and masking is a proven way to reduce the spread of respiratory viruses, protect yourself, and safeguard those at higher risk. - What You Can Do:
- Wear a mask in public indoor spaces, especially if you have symptoms or are around high-risk individuals.
- Wash hands frequently and stay home when sick.
- Get your flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccines—they remain the best protection.
