What is the Family Planning Clinic?
The Family Planning Clinic serves women of child bearing age desiring to plan and space births by providing contraceptives and preconception counseling. One of the goals of the clinic is to reduce infant mortality and morbidity by decreasing unintended pregnancies. The clinic offers many forms of birth control to accomplish this goal, including long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC) such as Mirena and Paragard Intrauterine devices, and the subdermal implant Nexplanon.
Who is Eligible for the Family Planning Clinic?
Any female Cumberland County resident of childbearing age in need of preconception counseling or a birth control method to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.
What can you do for me?
We provide routine preventative reproductive screenings such as Pap Smears, Clinical Breast Exams, and STI diagnosis and treatment. We provide education and counseling to help you decide the birth control method that best fits your needs or preconception counseling to help you achieve a healthy pregnancy. We provide many birth control methods to include condoms, natural family planning, birth control pills, the patch, the NuvaRing, and Depo Provera. We insert and remove Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives to include IUD’s (Mirena, Skyla, Liletta, Paragard) and the Nexplanon Subdermal Implant.
What does it cost?
Insurance is welcome, but not required. Fees for services provided are on a sliding scale based on your household income.

You can schedule an appointment by calling 910-433-3600 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and follow the prompts. We are located on the second floor of the Cumberland County Department of Public Health.
