The library offers equipment and services for customers needing assistance with using computers and the internet through our Accessibility and Assisted Services.
Every location has a public access computer lab and laptops available for checkout with internet access for use within the library. The software includes Microsoft Office 2016. All computers have audio, but users must bring their own headphones. You will need a Cumberland County library card or a free Temporary Computer Use card to use the computers at any location. Customers without a card may use a day pass. To save information, you are required to save it to a flash drive or email it to yourself. For security reasons, the computers reset and clear off all information after every session. Adults and teens may check out a laptop computer. Ask for more information at the service desk.
Digitize your media by converting VHS tapes, vinyl records, cassette tapes, photographs, photo negatives and slides into digital media. Contact the Local & State History Room at 910-483-7727, ext. 1365 for details. Click here for more information.
The library provides internet access in compliance with federal regulations. If you believe that a site is blocked in error, please inform the library staff. Children’s library cards are restricted to computers in the children’s department. These computers have fun and educational games along with heavy internet filtering. A parent or guardian must accompany children seven years old or younger. Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior and safety online.
Cumberland County Public Library in partnership with SYSTEL provides copying, printing and faxing services at all library locations. Printing is available from library computers and wi-fi. The library accepts both cash and card for printing and copying (placing a $5 hold on cards, and a $20 hold if using the fax machine), and charges $0.50 per page for color and $0.15 per page for black and white. Library printers and copiers use only library-supplied paper. To print from your laptop, follow directions to upload your document to the Print Client software or ask a staff member for assistance.
All locations have fax machines. Faxing services are provided for a fee of $1 per page. International faxing is not available. Scanning costs $0.05 per page and scans must be saved to a personal flash drive. Please call any library location for more information.
Wireless internet access is free at all locations. The network name is CCLIBWIRELESS, and it should connect automatically on most laptops. Users will need to accept the authentication page to connect. The library’s wireless network is not secure. Information sent from or to your laptop can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software. We encourage users to observe standard security practices in relation to passwords and credit cards. The library is not responsible for any losses. The library provides internet access in compliance with federal regulations.
