In July 2022, Cumberland County's Information Services department was rebranded to Innovation & Technology Services (ITS) to better reflect our dedication to innovation and the comprehensive range of services we provide. This change underscores our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology solutions to serve the needs of Cumberland County effectively, aligning with our strategic goals and objectives. Our mission is to deliver efficient, precise, secure, and cost-effective technology solutions that support the county's vision and enhance the quality of services for our citizens.
ITS is pivotal in providing essential support across over 30 County departments, categorized into seven primary functional areas: the ITS Business Office, Application Services, Client Support Services, Enterprise Solutions, Geospatial Services, Infrastructure Services, and Information Security. These divisions ensure a holistic approach to managing and delivering technology services, from strategic planning and development to implementation and maintenance.
With the evolution of ITS, notable organizational changes were implemented to enhance our operational efficiency and responsiveness. A dedicated Business Office was established to oversee administrative and financial operations, ensuring that projects align with budgetary and strategic objectives. The ERP team's transition to Application Services was aimed at improving application development, maintenance, and support, while the shift of the Project Management Office to Enterprise Solutions has fostered a more integrated approach to managing county-wide technology initiatives.
Moreover, recognizing the critical importance of cybersecurity, the creation of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) role marked a significant step in strengthening our security framework.
