Getting a Library Card

Getting a Library Card

Visit any library location with a photo ID and proof of a Cumberland County address to get your library card. Children under the age of 16 will need parental approval to get a card. There is no minimum age for library cards.

Your library card will expire every three years, so you will need to visit any location to update the information on your card. Please bring proof of address when updating your card.

Library cards are free for:

  • Cumberland County residents
  • Ft. Bragg residents
  • Residents of dorms or other residences at Fayetteville State University and Methodist University

Children’s Library Cards
We offer two types of cards for children. The juvenile library card limits checkout only to materials from the children’s collection, including juvenile DVDs, and use of computers in the children’s area. The regular library card allows for the check out of materials from all collections and use of the adult computer lab. An adult must be present with proper identification when getting a library card for children.

Non-residents
Non-residents of Cumberland County can get a library card to check out materials for an annual fee of $25.

Computer Use Only
You do not need a regular library card to use the computers; however, you will need to either apply for a Temporary Computer Use card (valid for 6 months) using a photo ID or request a day pass.
