Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) Taskforce

The Board of Health invites you attend the November SIM Taskforce 2025 meeting to learn more about and provide input on the current projects support individuals with mental and substance use disorders that come into contact with and move through the criminal justice system.

The Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) outlines how individuals with mental health and substance use disorders interact with and navigate the criminal justice system. This framework assists communities in identifying resources and service gaps at each intercept, enabling the development of local strategic action plans. Learn more about SIM here.

The purpose of the SIM Taskforce is to unite partners across each intercept of the SIM to collaboratively identify strategies that divert individuals with mental health and substance use disorders away from the justice system and into treatment and supportive services.

Join us! The SIM Taskforce meetings the 2nd Monday of each month at 3:00 PM-4:30PM, virtually. For more information contact the SIM Taskforce Coordinator Charlton Robeson at email envelope

In January 2025, over 50 partners came together for a SIM Mapping Workshop. The workshop aimed to update the adult SIM map initially created in 2019 and to develop a youth SIM map. The preliminary adult and youth SIM maps are available here. The final SIM report will be released in Spring 2025.

Partners can utilize the SIM map and report to:
    • Identify and enhance local behavioral health and supportive services to facilitate diversion from the justice system.
    • Encourage collaboration among partners by enhancing the coordination of services.
    • Make data-driven decisions to promote better outcomes.
    • To assist with applications for local, state, and federal funding.

The SIM Taskforce and Alliance Health’s Cumberland County Crisis Collaborative have commenced meetings, effective April 2025. SIM Taskforce meetings will be held monthly, while Crisis Collaborative meetings will occur every other month on the 2nd Monday. The SIM Taskforce will convene immediately following the Crisis Collaborative meetings.
