This year, America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which is on July 4, 2026, which is the United States Semiquincentennial. Cumberland County is in Noth Carolina, which was one of the original thirteen colonies that participated in the American Revolution-in fact, North Carolina was the first colony to give permission to its delegates at the 2nd Constitutional Convention to call for independence from Great Britain.
Cumberland County was an active participant in the American Revolution, and the following webpages detail both the Patriots, Loyalists and other local participants of the American Revolution in this region of North Carolina.
