About Cumberland Clean

Cumberland Clean is a countywide litter pickup initiative led by Cumberland County Solid Waste, established in 2021. Individuals and groups are invited to help clean assigned areas of the county during scheduled events held throughout the year.

Event Information

Cleanup areas are selected and coordinated by Cumberland County Solid Waste to support efficient event operations. For each event, volunteers will be assigned to a designated road segment or area so cleanup efforts can be concentrated, and support services can be provided efficiently.

On event day, volunteers will receive a supply bag with basic cleanup and safety items, including one bottle of water, to support visibility and safe participation.

Cleanup activities take place within Cumberland County limits and do not include areas within city limits.

Groups with 10 or more volunteers may request to clean a specific area within Cumberland County. Requests are reviewed based on group size, location, safety considerations, and operational capacity. Solid Waste staff will coordinate litter collection for approved group locations.

Photographs and/or video recordings may be taken during Cumberland Clean events. By signing up, you acknowledge that images or recordings may be used for promotional and informational purposes by Cumberland County.

What to Expect on Event Day
Volunteers will be assigned a cleanup route or area prior to the event. Some routes may involve walking longer distances. Solid Waste staff will be available on event day to provide instructions and assistance.

Once the cleanup is finished, volunteers should leave filled trash bags at their assigned cleanup location. Solid Waste crews will collect the bags and transport them to a Cumberland County container site.

Community Cleanup Support (Outside Scheduled Events)

Cumberland County Solid Waste encourages community involvement in litter reduction efforts. Groups interested in organizing cleanup activities outside of scheduled Cumberland Clean events may contact the Solid Waste team to discuss possible support options at 910-321-6928.
