Fees for Pickup Trash Hauls, Bulky Items Reduced for Spring

Apr 02, 2024

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Cumberland County Solid Waste has reduced the flat rate fee for pickup trucks hauling municipal solid waste and construction and demolition debris during the months of April, May and June. The rate has been reduced from $20 per load to $10 per load. The rate for single bulky items has also been reduced from $10 to $5. The spring rate reduction is part of Solid Waste’s Cumberland Clean Start initiative to encourage residents to properly dispose of waste and reduce illegal dumping in the county.

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt the reduced fees at their regular meeting held April 1 in the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse following a presentation from Solid Waste Management Director Amanda Bader.

A countywide cleanup will be held April 20 and volunteers are encouraged to register. Individuals or groups of all ages are encouraged to participate and have the choice to pick their cleanup location outside of Fayetteville city limits. Volunteers will collect litter between 8 a.m. and noon. Cumberland County Solid Waste staff will collect and dispose of all trash bags.
