Tax Administration Accepting Formal Appeals for 2025 Assessed Values March 25 - May 28

Mar 26, 2025, 13:37 PM by Jon Soles
The period for property owners to submit a formal appeal to the Board of Equalization and Review for 2025 assessed values runs March 25 - May 28.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Tax Administration reminds property owners the period to submit a formal appeal to the Board of Equalization and Review for 2025 assessed values begins Tuesday, March 25, and runs through Wednesday, May 28. The Tax Administration Office recently completed the 2025 revaluation of all real property to reflect fair market value as of Jan. 1, 2025.

Taxpayers who missed the informal appeal period, which ended March 24, may submit a formal appeal.

If a taxpayer is dissatisfied with the result of their informal appeal, they may file a formal appeal with the Board of Equalization and Review by May 28, or within 15 days of the date on their value decision notice.

Taxpayers should provide detailed supporting information, such as updated property details or a recent appraisal. Appraisers will review submissions and reach out to taxpayers to explain the next steps in the appeal process.

Taxpayers may submit requests for appeals:

    • In person at the Tax Administration Office, Room 543 of the Judge E.  Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse, 117 Dick St., Fayetteville
    • By mail addressed to Cumberland County Board of Equalization and Review, P.O. Box 449, Fayetteville, NC 28302
    • In secure drop boxes located in the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse parking lot off Cool Spring Street or outside Tax Administration Customer Service on the 5th floor of the courthouse.

Taxpayers may view their property record card and 2025 assessed value online at taxpwa.co.cumberland.nc.us/camapwa.

More information regarding revaluation, appeals form and how to appeal is available online at cumberlandcountync.gov/tax.
