FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Historic Courthouse, located at 130 Gillespie St., Fayetteville, will temporarily close Friday, March 28, 2025, to allow for the upgrade of the building’s electrical switchgear. The Historic Courthouse is expected to reopen for regular business hours Monday, March 31, 2025. The County wishes to make the public aware of the following items, related to the availability of County functions residing in the building, during the temporary closure. These functions include the County Planning and Inspections Department, FAMPO and Community Transportation Program, Environmental Health Division, and Engineering and Infrastructure Department.
Alternative Locations for Services
Cumberland County Planning and Inspections Department: During the closure, Planning and Inspections staff will be available at the Cumberland County Emergency Services Building at 500 Executive Place, Fayetteville. Visitors should park in front of the building and use the front right entrance. Signs will be posted directing residents to the appropriate entrance. The department can also be reached by phone at 910-678-7600.
Environmental Health Services: For assistance with on-site wastewater permits and inspections, residents may visit the third floor of the Cumberland County Department of Public Health at 1235 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, or call 910-433-3618.
