FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The following is a summary of the Aug. 6, 2024, Cumberland County Board of Commissioners American Rescue Plan (ARP) Committee Special Meeting. The meeting was held in Room 564 of the Judge E. ARP Committee Chairman Commissioner Jimmy Keefe opened the meeting. The Committee thanked Ignite internship cohort participants, Terra Smith and Jackson Bryant, for their hard work on the 2024 Recovery Plan for State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds which was submitted to the Committee.
The following ITEMS OF BUSINESS were discussed:
- Consideration to Transfer Unobligated Funding to Public Sector Workforce: Rehiring Public Sector Staff and Associated Budget Ordinance Amendment #B250626: Chief of Staff Tye Vaught led a discussion about the request to transfer funds. The Committee had a discussion with County staff to include updates about fund balances and future funding for this project. The motion passed unanimously.
- Consideration to Purchase Mobile Transceiver & Reader Kit for Public Utilities: Vaught presented information about the need to purchase this piece of equipment to allow for meter reading from staff vehicles. This equipment will aid in expediting readings. The motion passed unanimously.
- Spring Lake Family Support Services: Chairman Glenn Adams requested this item be added. The County received a request for consideration to extend the time allotted for the requestor to spend their funding. The requestor had funds they were unable to spend within the allotted amount of time and are requesting an extension. The Committee requested all who received funds and were unable to spend be offered the opportunity to return the remaining funds and reapply for them. The motion passed unanimously.
