FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The State of Emergency, issued Jan. 30 in response to severe winter weather in Cumberland County, has ended. County Emergency Services continues to monitor weather conditions and urges residents to remain alert as winter impacts persist.
The National Weather Service forecasts rain beginning Wednesday, with the potential for freezing rain overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. Residents are encouraged to use caution as conditions may change quickly.
Cumberland County Emergency Services remains in close coordination with local, regional and state partners to keep residents informed, prepared and safe. The County thanks residents, staff and community partners for their collective effort to look out for one another during recent weather events.
County Operations
Cumberland County offices and facilities will operate on their regular schedule Wednesday, Feb. 4.
Cumberland County Schools have announced an asynchronous remote learning day Wednesday, Feb. 4. School buildings and district offices will be closed. Families should continue following official school system communications for updates.
Sheltering & Warming Centers
Community partner shelters remain open and available for individuals in need of a warm, safe place during ongoing cold conditions.
