Tax Bills Mailed, Payment Options Available

Aug 14, 2018

Cumberland County Tax Administration mailed tax bills to property owners Aug. 10. Taxpayers are reminded that property taxes are due Sept. 1. However, a grace period allows payments to be made until Jan. 7, 2019, with no penalties or interest. After Jan. 7, unpaid tax bills will begin to incur a 2 percent interest charge the first month and 0.75 percent interest charge each month thereafter, beginning Feb. 1.

Taxpayers may pay their tax bills online, by mail, by phone or in person. Go to co.cumberland.nc.us/tax to pay online with an electronic check, debit card or major credit card. Visa consumer debit cards are charged a flat-rate fee of $3.95. All other credit and debit cards are charged a convenience fee of $2 or 2.65 percent of the amount paid, whichever is greater.

Taxpayers can set up an online bill pay option with their financial institution. It is important for taxpayers using this option verify and update the tax bill number on file with their bank, as it can change annually.

To pay by phone, call 1-866-441-6614. Phone payments must be made with a major credit card or debit card. A credit or debit card convenience fee is charged.
