Animal Services Waives Adoption Fees for All Pets

May 12, 2022

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Animal Services is waiving the adoption fee for all pets May 16-21 at the Animal Services Center, 4704 Corporation Drive in Fayetteville.

The shelter is open for adoptions Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.

"Animal Services periodically will request to waive adoptions fees from the County Manager for a variety of reasons,” said Animal Services Director Elaine Smith. “In this case, we are making every effort to find homes for the animals currently housed here due to a state mandated re-surfacing the floors of our large dog kennels.”

All adopted pets will be vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.

“Since we will temporarily lose half of our large dog housing capacity in the resurfacing project, we are hoping to adopt out as many pets as possible to loving homes to prevent having to potentially euthanize animals for lack of space,” Smith added.

The $100 that is normally the adoption fee for dogs, and the $70 fee for cats can be spent on items like toys, a bed, or treats.
