Deadline to Register Vote in November Election is Oct. 14

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 8 General Election is Oct. 14. Citizens may still register to vote during One-Stop Early Voting, which begins Oct. 20.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 8 General Election is Oct. 14. Citizens may still register to vote and vote on the same day during One-Stop Early Voting, which begins Oct. 20 and runs through Nov. 5 at eight locations across the county.

The Cumberland County Board of Elections is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Board of Elections is in the E. Newton Smith Center at 227 Fountainhead Lane in Fayetteville.

To register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or older and a legal resident of Cumberland County for 30 days before the date of the next election.

Under federal and state law, if you apply to register to vote and do not provide a valid driver’s license number or last four digits of your Social Security number, on your application, you must enclose a copy of one of the following documents with your application:

  • A current and valid photo ID
  • A current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows your name and address.
     

If you do not provide a valid form of ID, you will be asked to show ID the first time you present to vote.
