Cumberland County Tax Administration reminds citizens that property taxes for real estate and personal property listed in January 2022 will be delinquent if not paid by Jan. 5, 2023.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Tax Administration reminds citizens that property taxes for real estate and personal property listed in January 2022 will be delinquent if not paid by Jan. 5, 2023. Interest and enforced collections such as bank levy, wage/rent garnishments, and/or foreclosure, will begin on Jan. 6, 2023. Interest and collection fees will be added to the tax amount due.
County Government offices and the Courthouse will be closed Dec. 23 – 27 for the Christmas holiday. Offices will again be closed on Monday, Jan. 2, for New Year’s Day. Tax Administration reminds citizens of these closings and to make appropriate plans. The last week of the year is extremely busy for the office with taxpayers seeking receipts by Dec. 31 for 2022 income tax filing purposes.
Taxpayers may pay their tax bills in person, online, by mail or by phone. Go to cumberlandcountync.gov/tax to pay online with an electronic check, debit card or major credit card. A service fee of $3.80 will apply to all payments processed using a regulated Visa or Mastercard consumer debit card. All other consumer debit and credit cards will be charged a convenience fee of 2.50% of the amount paid or minimum of $2, whichever is greater. Business cards, purchasing cards, American Express or other High Rewards cards will be charged a convenience fee of 3.25%.
Taxpayers may pay in person using cash, money orders, check, or debit or credit cards at the Tax Administration office, located in Room 530 on the 5th floor of the Judge Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse at 117 Dick St., Fayetteville. Taxpayers may also make payments (checks only) using the drop box located outside Room 530 near the customer service entrance of Tax Administration.

To pay by phone, call 1-866-441-6614. The address to pay taxes by mail is Cumberland County Tax Collector, P.O. Box 449, Fayetteville, NC 28302-0449. Mailed payments must be made with a check or money order payable to Cumberland County Tax Collector.
The 2023 annual property tax listing period begins Jan. 1 and runs through Jan. 31. Listing forms must be updated, signed, and returned and must be postmarked no later than Jan. 31 to avoid the 10 percent late listing fee.
