Cumberland County’s Department of Public Health is now accepting donations of unwrapped toys for the 2nd Annual Kids Holiday Party: Highlighting Child Safety. The event will be held Dec. 14, 2024, from 12 – 2:30 p.m., at 1235 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville.
Public Health will be accepting toy donations from now until Dec. 9. Toy donations may be dropped at the following locations:
- Health Education Division, located at 1235 Ramsey St.
- Red Carpet Barbershop and Salon, 6085 Raeford Rd Suite 105
- Quow Restoration Clinic, 1019 Hope Mills Rd.

Holiday Toy Safety Checklist: Before You Purchase a Toy
- Read all warnings and instructions on the box.
- Check labels for age recommendations and be sure to select gifts appropriate for a child’s age ability.
- Avoid purchasing toys with sharp or rigid points, spikes, or dangerous edges.
- Buy toys that will withstand impact and not break into dangerous shards.
- To avoid a choking hazard, steer clear of toys that can fit in a child’s mouth.
- Look for the letters “ASTM”. This means the product meets the national safety standards established by the American Society for Testing and Materials.
Holiday Toy Safety Checklist: After You Purchase a Toy
- Inspect toys for safe, sturdy construction.
- Keep toys intended for older children away from younger children.
- Check all toys periodically for breakage and potential hazards. Damaged or dangerous toys should be repaired or thrown away immediately.
- After playing, store toys properly to avoid risks or falls. To prevent injuries, store toys at a lower level so they are easily in reach for children.
