County Announces Closure of Camden Container Site and Plans for a New Site

Oct 29, 2025

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County will permanently close the Camden Container Site, located at 7427 Camden Road, on Dec. 29, 2025.

The closure is necessary to accommodate the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Camden Road widening project. The county is planning construction of a new and improved container site near the intersection of Parkton and Brisson Roads. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the new site scheduled to open in fall 2026.

“The new site will feature improved traffic flow, enhanced safety, and greater convenience for our residents,” said General Manager for Natural Resources Amanda Lee. “We appreciate the community’s patience as we work toward creating a more accessible facility.”

During the transition, patrons are encouraged to use nearby container sites, including:

  • Parker Site: 4759 Black Bridge Road

  • Ann Street Landfill: 698 Ann Street

Other container site locations are available throughout the County. A full list of sites can be found on the county’s website.
