FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Department of Public Health Director Dr. Jennifer Green will step down as a full-time employee on Dec. 19, 2025. At that time, Assistant County Manager Heather Skeens will assume the role of Interim Public Health Director.
Dr. Green, who has served as Public Health Director since 2019,
announced earlier this year that she would leave the position at the end of 2025 due to her family’s military relocation.
Although her last day in the office will be in December, Dr. Green will continue to serve the County in a part-time, remote capacity beginning in January 2026. For the following year, she will provide remote ongoing support to the Department.
“Dr. Green’s expertise and leadership have been instrumental in advancing the health and well-being of our residents,” said County Manager Clarence Grier. “We are grateful she will continue to lend her knowledge and guidance, even as she embarks on this new chapter.”
