City-County Liaison Committee Meets to Discuss Regional Priorities and Homelessness Response

Feb 17, 2026

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — On Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, Cumberland County Commissioners and City of Fayetteville elected officials gathered for the monthly City-County Liaison Committee meeting, hosted by the City of Fayetteville, to share updates and discuss key initiatives impacting the community.

A primary focus of the meeting was an update from the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Continuum of Care (CoC) on regional homelessness response efforts. The CoC shared information on the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) count, Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data, and coordinated entry housing processes.

Preliminary information from the 2026 PIT count indicates participation included 65 volunteers, among them five Continuum of Care board members. Final numbers have not yet been released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The Committee also received information about Redeploying American Veterans, an initiative focused on connecting veterans with employment opportunities and working toward the elimination of veteran homelessness.

The City-County Liaison Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month, with the City of Fayetteville hosting all meetings in 2026. The Committee strengthens coordination between local governments and partner agencies and provides a forum for collaboration and information sharing on initiatives that impact residents throughout Cumberland County and the City of Fayetteville.
