Chairman deViere to Deliver State of the County Address on March 16

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners will hold a State of the County Address on March 16 at 6 p.m. in the Cumberland County Historic Courthouse at 130 Gillespie St., Fayetteville, followed by a regular Board of Commissioners meeting in the same room at 6:45 p.m. Agendas and supporting materials are available at cumberlandconc.portal.civicclerk.com. During this event, Chairman Kirk deViere will provide an update on the County’s progress, current updates and future vision.

The Board of Commissioner’s decision to hold the State of the County and regular meeting on March 16 commemorates the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Historic Courthouse. The Classical Revival style courthouse, designed by Harry Barton, was constructed from 1925 to 1926 and was dedicated on March 16, 1926. The Historic Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Security Notice: To ensure the safety of all attendees, deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will be present to conduct security measures using handheld metal detector wands. Attendees carrying bags, purses or briefcases will be asked to open them for a visual inspection.

Accessibility: The building is accessible via a ramp on the south side of the building, and an elevator to the meeting room on the second floor.
