County & City Opening Facilities as Warming Centers Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Due to anticipated temperatures at or below freezing, Cumberland County, in partnership with the City of Fayetteville, will open government facilities as warming centers during business hours on Saturday, Jan. 20 for residents who do not have access to heat and need a place to get out of the cold.

The National Weather Service in Raleigh is forecasting temperatures with a wind chill below or just above freezing during the day on Saturday. As a result, the following locations are available as warming centers Saturday during normal business hours:

All eight Cumberland County Public Library locations will be open as warming centers. Libraries are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Headquarters Library at 300 Maiden Lane, Fayetteville, along with Cliffdale, North Regional, and Hope Mills branches are also open Sundays from 2 to 6 p.m. To find your local library, go to cumberlandcountync.gov/departments/library-group/library.

Te lobbies of Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Centers are open to the public year-round during normal operating hours and can be used as respite from the cold.
