Property Tax Bills Mailed Aug. 16, Payment Options Available

Cumberland County Tax Administration mailed tax bills to property owners Aug. 16. The deadline to pay 2024 property taxes is Jan. 6, 2025.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Tax Administration mailed tax bills to property owners Aug. 16. The deadline to pay 2024 property taxes is Jan. 6, 2025. After Jan. 6, unpaid tax bills will begin to incur a 2% interest charge the first month and a 0.75% interest charge each month thereafter, beginning Feb. 1.

Taxpayers may pay their tax bills online, by mail, by phone or in person. To pay online with an electronic check, debit card or major credit card, go to cumberlandcountync.gov/tax. Processing and transaction fees are charged for credit or debit cards. There is a transaction fee for electronic check.

To pay by phone, call 910-557-7935. Phone payments must be made with a major credit card or debit card. Processing and transaction fees are charged for payment with a credit or debit card. 

Taxpayers can set up an online bill pay option with their financial institution. Taxpayers should verify and update the tax bill number on file with their bank, as it can change annually.

A secure drop box can be used for contactless payments by check or money order. The drop box is located beside the mailboxes outside the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse rear parking lot facing Cool Spring and Russell streets. Do not place cash payments in the drop box. Listing forms and other Tax Administration documents can also be deposited in the secure drop box.

Mailed payments must be made with a check or money order payable to Cumberland County Tax Collector.

Payments can be made in person at the Tax Administration office on the fifth floor of the Courthouse during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office accepts cash, check, money order and major credit and debit cards. Credit and Debit card fees apply. 

A Payment Plan Option form has been included with this year’s tax bills for taxpayers interested in making monthly payments for property taxes. The form can be completed and submitted with the first payment.
