FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County has declared a State of Emergency ahead of an approaching winter storm expected to bring snow, hazardous travel conditions, and dangerously low temperatures.
County Emergency Services continues to closely monitor weather conditions and will provide updates through official County communication channels as conditions evolve.
Out of an abundance of caution, all County offices and facilities will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 31, and Sunday, Feb. 1.
Weather Conditions
Cumberland County is under a Winter Storm Warning. Forecasts indicate rain transitioning to snow, with the potential for significant accumulation through the weekend. Conditions could create hazardous travel conditions including snow-covered roads, black ice, wind gusts, and extreme cold. Scattered power outages are possible.
Dangerously low temperatures are expected to persist through early next week.
Emergency Readiness
The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners declared a State of Emergency as a proactive measure to ensure resources and personnel are positioned to respond quickly.
Emergency Services is coordinating response efforts with local, regional, state, and federal partners, and the Emergency Operations Center is partially activated to support monitoring and coordination.
